US President Donald Trump threatens the EU to introduce 20 percent duty on all cars imported to the United States.
In a Twitter message on Friday, Trump shows “customs and trade barriers that the EU has long been affecting the United States and its great companies and workers.”
– If these tariffs and barriers are not soon broken down and removed, we will introduce 20 percent toll on all their cars coming to the United States. Build them here! twists the American president.
Trump has also previously threatened to introduce car traffic. In May, his trade minister confirmed that the US is considering the possibility of increasing the import tax on foreign cars.
The EU’s duty on cars from the US is 10 percent.
By comparison, the import tax on foreign passenger cars in the United States has been 2.5 per cent, while for vans 25 per cent.
“It is very difficult for us to sell cars to the EU. But the EU has its Mercedes’s and its BMWs, and the cars flow almost unobstructed into the United States. They only pay a torn customs, while the EU requires a lot, “Trump told NTB when he visited NATO’s Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg in May.
